Art Exhibit 2019

This year’s annual art exhibit was smaller than the last one, with just six paintings and eight painting studies. This was due to starting so late in the year. I didn’t take my Artist Retreat until mid-August, when this series was born.  I figured I could continue the series into the new year.

While I would have preferred more pieces in the exhibit, I was happy with what I had to show. I prepared for the exhibit, sending out invitations well in advance. I hired someone to host the show, so I would have time to talk with my guests. Just a couple hours before the show was to open I got a text from the person I’d hired telling me she couldn’t make it due to a family emergency. Ugh… I was left to greet people, take their coats, serve them drinks and appies, while also trying to chat with my guests, and handle sales. I had no time to take photos and I felt overwhelmed and exhausted by the end of the evening.

The series, “Someday”, is about procrastination. How we hope to pursue our dream some day. We tell ourselves, “Someday, I’d like to do it.” Too often, “someday” never comes.
