Experimental Painting

I’ve been quite inspired by the fluid acrylic painting movement and have tried my hand with this method this past summer. It looks so easy! But colour combos and recipes make a huge difference in the final outcome. What I like about the process is that it can have some stunning results. What I don’t like is you just can’t predict how it will turn out. As someone who is detail oriented and who plans her pieces, I’ve found this to be somewhat of a challenge. The paints continue to move – even after you’re finished manipulating them. You have to know when to let it be or all those beautiful colours turn muddy. And, you really must be sure the surface is level or the paints will run right off the canvas!

It took ten small pieces to get the hang of it!
