Painting Study 5 & 6

Once I returned to the studio, after my stay on Salt Spring Island, I was able to “play” with styles. I’ve always enjoyed paintings with a more “painterly” or expressive style, versus realism.

This is one of my favorite styles – and it’s similar in style to the commissioned piece I did last year. I want to develop this style more!

 

Here, I simplified the scene with clean edges. I’d change the trees in the back, but overall, it isn’t bad!
